Dear Dad/Grandpa,

We would like to invite you to assume a new role in the life of our family: Humanist in Residence. This is not a formal title, though it borrows the dignity of one. It is, rather, a recognition of something you have long been doing—reading deeply, thinking carefully, and helping the rest of us see the world with greater clarity and humanity.

The idea is simple. Once each month, one of us will sit down with you for a recorded conversation. Sometimes we will ask about books. Sometimes about your life. Sometimes about the questions that seem, stubbornly, to matter most. Over time, these conversations will gather into something we believe will be very special: a living archive of your voice, your mind, and your way of seeing.

Alongside these conversations, we are creating a small digital home for your work—a place where your books, your podcast, your discussions, and your ongoing reflections can live together in one warm and accessible space.

Above all, we hope this will be enjoyable. A chance for conversation. For reflection. For the kind of thoughtful wandering that has always been your native ground.
